The Multilock connectors.

The supplied Nylon wing locks are used to secure the wing joints. The sockets have
already been installed in the fuselage wing root. The matching plugs are required to be
glued into the wing roots to complete the joint.
First check the plugs fit the holes provided in the wing roots and adjust if necessary. Once
the holes have been adequately prepared, glue the plugs into the wing roots and with the
steel wing joiner installed, engage the wings firmly with the mating sockets and ensure
correct alignment.
Take due care when completing this step to avoid the effects of any excess epoxy. We
recommend that you first cover the fuselage wing roots with kitchen film (or similar
material) to protect the fuselage, and apply a releasing agent to the locks themselves while
the epoxy cures. Once cured, the wing locks are easily separated by applying firm
pressure, by hand, along the leading edge of the wing – as shown.
Note: ARC customers – complete this step only after the wing panels have been covered
– see finishing.

Preparing the wing servo mountings

The TA Servo LOCK system supplied with your ALPINA 4001 PRO kit provides a universal
wing servo mounting mechanism which is both simple to install and very secure.
Glue the plywood servo frames into the factory prepared servo wells. Note that In the case
of the ARF version, the plywood servo frames are pre-installed at the factory. Temporarily
install the servo covers using the screws provided and carefully mark the position of the
exit scoops. Extend these to each of the control surfaces and mark the position of the
relevant control horns – ensuring that the position of each control horn is at 90° to the
servo arms.
Remove just sufficient polystyrene to the inside the factory prepared servo-wells to
accommodate your chosen servos. Alternatively remove all of the polystyrene to reveal the
inside of the upper wing skin and then apply a layer of suitably treated
100 gr / m² glass cloth to prevent any indentations appearing in the upper surface of the
wing when the servos are installed.
Installation of the airbrakes
For those customers who have purchased the Carbon Master Edition (CME) with the built-
in air- brakes - please complete the following additional steps:
Carefully remove the foil around the airbrake opening to reveal the factory installed
airbrakes. Refer to the instructions for assembly, dismantling and installation of the
airbrake mechanisms given in the Appendix.
The supplied self adhesive white plastic strips are fixed to the upper surface of the
airbrakes to form the airbrake caps. Adjust carefully to achieve minimum gaps and a good
aerodynamically clean wing surface – as shown.
