Electric pallet truck EGU PS 15
English
3.6
Travelling with Load
The truck is operated by the driver standing.
The control handle acts directly on the driving wheel, so you
have to rotate them in a change of direction in the desired
direction. The steering angle is 180°.
Travel with the load in lowest possible position in considera-
tion of the floor clearance under the load.
The load should be moved with lifted fork only for stacking and depositing on even surface.
Travel with steady speed adapted to the load and the floor conditions.
A sudden stop is only allowed in case of danger. Sufficiently reduce the driving speed in curves.
When driving on ascents, the climbing ability of the pallet truck must not be exceeded.
Max. climbing ability: see technical data. Climbing ability data apply to a dry floor pavement surface.
With other surface conditions (humidity, other surface, etc.) the maximum permissible ascent or slope is
reduced respectively.
Driving on ascents and slopes should be effected with the load pointing to ascent direction and with low-
ered fork only. When stopping, especially on ascents and slopes, bring the control handle to upper brak-
ing position. Only in case of danger must be stopped suddenly.
The running speed in curves decrease sufficiently.
3.6.1 Behaviour when driving
The driver must behave within the factory with exactly the same care and attention as he would exercise
on the road. The speed of the vehicle must be adapted to the prevailing conditions. Speed must be re-
duced, for example, in bends, narrow passages, when driving through swing doors, in areas where visi-
bility is obstructed and on uneven ground. A suitable braking distance must be maintained from vehicles
in front and the vehicle must be kept under control at all times. Sudden braking, fast turns, overtaking in
dangerous or obstructed areas must be avoided at all times. Industrial trucks with driver's seats or
stands must not be started up from the ground (not applicable to tiller-controlled stand-on vehicles which
can also be pedestrian-led).
3.6.2 Visibility when driving
The driver must look in the direction of travel and maintain a clear view of the route being driven. Par-
ticularly when reversing he must ensure that the way is clear. When transporting goods liable to obstruct
vision, the load must be trailed. If this is not possible, a second person must proceed in front of the vehi-
cle to advise the driver of dangers, and the vehicle driven at walking pace and with the utmost caution.
3.6.3 Driving on gradients
When driving on gradients the load must face the
gradient. It is only permissible to drive on slopes
which are marked as suitable for traffic and which
can be safely negotiated in accordance with the
technical limitations of the vehicle. The driver must
satisfy himself that the ground is clean and capable
of providing sufficient grip. Turning, approaching
from an angle or parking on gradients is prohibited.
Vehicles must be driven on slopes at reduced speed.
3.6.4 Entering lifts
The driver of an industrial truck may only use lifts with sufficient load-carrying capacity, which are de-
signed to accommodate such vehicles and for which permission has been granted by the operator. This
permission must be obtained before using the lift. Inside the lift, the vehicle must be positioned in such a
way that no part of it comes into contact with the shaft. Pedestrian-led vehicles may be driven into the lift
with load-carrying mechanisms. Accompanying persons should enter the lift after the vehicle and leave it
before.
3.6.5 Driving on loading ramps
Before driving onto loading platforms the driver must satisfy himself that they are properly attached and
secured and have sufficient load-carrying capacity. The vehicle is to be driven slowly and carefully.
3.7
Depositing of the Load
Stop just before the stacking area and lift the load in safe distance over the pile.
Manoeuvre the load directly above the pile and bring the tie bar in upper braking position.
Lower the load until fork arms are discharged.
Ensure safe reversing, lower the fork arms and move away.
