4.7 PTO

The tractor has two PTOs both of which can work independently from or
synchronised with tractor driving speed.
Disengage the clutch by depressing pedal n.19 fig.1.
Select the kind of PTO operation you want using lever n.14 fig.1:
• Independent (540 - 540E): position N fig.6.
• Synchronised position S fig.6
To engage the synchronised PTO, (when a trailer is connected for example),
raise the retainer N.1 fig.11 and push the control lever N. 2 fig.11 in the direction
shown by the arrow. After having used the synchronised PTO, position the
control lever N. 2 fig.11 so that the retainer N. 1 returns to the horizontal
position. This retainer prevents the synchronised PTO from becoming
accidentally engaged during the use of implements that need an independent
PTO (cultivators), thus preventing the transmission from being seriously
damaged.
The independent PTO can operate at two Rpm settings (fig.7).
Use lever n.2 fig.1 (n.2 fig.7):
• 540
speed = 540 Rpm with engine at 2850 Rpm
• 540E
speed = 750 Rpm with engine at 2690 Rpm
Engage the clutch by releasing pedal n.19 fig.1.
Top PTO spline: 1"3/8 ASAE, turning direction: clockwise.
Bottom PTO spline: 26 UNI220, turning direction: counter-clockwise.
Wheel turn /synchronised PTO Rpm ratio: 1:15.043
Max stress on PTO (torque): 30 Kgm

Couple rotary cultivators with ratio not lower than 3.4:1 and cardan
joint with limit safety device of max. 30Kgm.
ATTENTION: when using the independent PTO with the tractor stopped, the
gear lever n.16 fig.1 and the speed range lever n.17 fig.1 should be in neutral.
This way, the power absorbed and wear and tear on the gearbox is kept to a
minimum.
When the hitch and the PTO are being used, remove the lift draft arms and the
side chains and mount the hitch in the bottom position.
Fix the hook with the pins and the bottom draft arms of the hydraulic lift with the
fixing pin.
