With the generator running and in stand-alone operation, the generator voltage drops below the rated value as
soon as a load is applied, or if the load is increased (within the rated limits of the generator).
Step 1
Check that the regulator is not operating in Droop compensation mode, i.e. that the PAR LED of D-Vo
Dashboard is off.
If it is off, move to Step 2.
Otherwise, check whether the PAR contact (C5 by default) is working properly by following the
procedure described below:
1. fully disconnect D-VO from the remainder of the system;
2. power D-Vo for an external source, in accordance with the specifications, then check the colour of
the PAR LED.
If:
the LED is on: the Droop mode is enabled even when the PAR contact (C5) is open; move to Step
3.
LED off: the Droop mode is properly disabled when the PAR contact (C5) is open; therefore you
need to check the proper operation of the control system of the PAR contact (C5) (a component not
supplied by Marelli).
Step 2
Check whether the overexcitation limiter has tripped.
If it has occurred, check that the limiter settings are consistent with the characteristics of the machine
and of the applications.
Edit any incorrect settings.
Otherwise, move to Step 4.
Step 3
Replace the regulator.
Operation in parallel with regulators – the reactive power is not properly split between two or more generators
operating in parallel.
Step 1
Check whether the Droop compensation function is enabled: if the control system issues the closing
command for the PAR contact (C5 di default), in the Monitor area of D-Vo Dashboard, the PAR LED
must be on.
If the Droop function is enabled, move to Step 2.
Otherwise, check the PAR digital input (C5) by following the procedure described below:
1. fully disconnect D-Vo from the remainder of the system;
2. insert a jumper between C5 and M and power D-Vo from an external source, in accordance with the
specifications;
3. check the colour of the PAR LED.
If:
the LED is off: move to Step 6.
the LED is on: the Generator Parallel state is properly enabled when the PAR contact (C5) is closed;
therefore you need to check the proper operation of the control system of the PAR contact (C5) (a
component not supplied by Marelli).
Step 2
Use D-Vo Dashboard to check whether the settings are correct. In particular, check that the value of
Droop is not zero.
Edit any incorrect settings.
Otherwise, move to Step 3.
Step 3
Check that the current transformer (CT) is not short-circuited or disconnected.
Modify any incorrect connections.
Otherwise, move to Step 4.
Step 4
Invert the CT connection on the terminals of the current input in use (I3+/I3- by default).
If the above operation has no effect, restore the previous connection and move to Step 5.
Step 5
Check that the voltage and current measurements set in D-Vo Dashboard match the measurement
connections physically existing on D-Vo.
Modify any incorrect connections and/or settings.
Otherwise, move to Step 6.
Step 6
Replace the regulator.
