3.3.2 Information on changing the electrolyte bottle

Important! Change the electrolyte bottle while electrolyte is still present in the bottle.
When the sensor is operated without electrolyte the reference system does not function and the
measuring results are falsified. (For description of electrolyte components see Fig 6).
Have a full electrolyte bottle ready.
Check the medium temperature; only carry out an electrolyte bottle change at
below +80 °C.
Reduce the pressure (process pressure) in the medium cavity; if this is not possible, the
electrolyte bottle change must take place very quickly.
Activate the "HOLD function" in the measuring transmitter. Using this function the last meas-
ured pH value is maintained until deactivation.
If the electrolyte vessel is pressurised, you must reduce the pressure; block the pressure in-
feed and release pressure in the electrolyte vessel by briefly loosening the union nut for the
plastic insert.
Loosen the electrolyte vessel tension clamp and remove the upper part.´
Remove the empty electrolyte bottle (see Fig 8).
Remove the red cap from the new electrolyte bottle and disinfect the rubber plug using ethanol
if required.
Insert the full electrolyte bottle (see Fig 7).
Replace the upper part of the electrolyte vessel.
Close the electrolyte vessel again using the tension clamp.
Load the electrolyte vessel with pressure of at least 3 bar.
Open the de-aeration screw on the sensor head (see Fig 2) by about 1 rotation and wait until
the electrolyte flows free of bubbles.
Close the sensor de-aeration screw manually.
Using water, carefully clean parts wetted by electrolyte.
Pressurise the electrolyte vessel with compressed air and set the required operating pressure
for the electrolyte vessel: 0.5 bar above the highest occurring pressure (medium or
steam pressure); max. 7 bar.
Re-apply pressure to the medium cavity (maximum 6 bar).
De-activate the "HOLD function" at the measuring transmitter. The measuring transmitter thus
adopts the current measuring signal from the sensor.

The KCI elec-
trolyte used is sup-
plied in 1 l bottles.
These bottles are
inserted fully into the
pressure-free elec-
trolyte vessel.
The needle pierces
the rubber plug
when the bottle is
correctly inserted.

Important!
Change the electro-
lyte bottle in good
time.
Do not let the bottle
run dry, as this falsi-
fies the measuring
result.
Pay attention to the
above instructions
when changing the
electrolyte bottle.
