Maintenance
Important
The fastening bolt of the blade on the right-hand side when facing the direction of travel has a left-handed thread and only fits for
this blade.
Danger
Do not touch the blades with your bear hands. Wear gloves or wrap the blades in paper or another material before you install or
remove the blades.
3. Put the mower back on.
Shearing Pins (Fig. W3)
Sharpening the Blades
Important
Be absolutely sure that the blades are straight (level). Bent blades will produce considerable vibration and can result in damage to
the engine or the Trac.
1. The blades can be sharpened with a file or a whetstone. Do not sharpen the blades while directly on the mower.
2. Stick a screwdriver through the centre drilled hole of the mowing blade and hold it horizontal. If the blade is balanced out, it
will remain in this position. If one side of a blade should have excess weight, additional sharpening will have to be carried out
there until the blade remains in the horizontal position.
Setting the Drive Belts (Fig. W4/W6/W7)
Important
The service life of V-belts and their correct functioning depend on correct tension and acceptable guidance of the belt. After a few
hours of operation, they should be checked and readjusted if need be.
A total of three belts are found under the chassis. One belt drives the gear mechanism and thus the machine. A second one trans-
fers the force from the electromagnetic Trac clutch to the mower. The third belt is a toothed belt that synchronises the rotations of
the mowing blades.

Trac Clutch Belt (Fig. W6 )
Note: Only for electromagnetic clutch. The tension of the belt is automatically adjusted to the spring-loaded revolving pulley.
Important: Fasten the longer end of the hook-type spring to the Trac chassis and the shorter end to the mower.
Trac Belt (Fig. W7)
Adjusting the Trac Toothed Belt
Note: It is advisable to adjust the Trac toothed belt after twenty hours of operation, because new belts stretch slightly during the
break-in phase.
a) Removing the mower (Fig. W5)
1. Put the mower in the lowest position.
2. Pull in the arm of the revolving pulley and take the V-belt off of the pulley.
3. Remove the spring from the latching lever.
4. To lift the lower part, lift the tunnel from the two pins welded on by which it is fastened to the Trac unit.
5. Pull the tunnel to the rear by around 10 cm (100 mm) and secure so that it cannot slip back.
6. Take off the hairpin clamps from the front pin and the two rear pins. Note: Although it is not necessary, for safety reasons and
to make it easier to put the mower back on, it is advisable to undo the large spring. To do so, the tunnel has to be removed.
7. Pull out the rear pin from one side with a pair of pliers and then the other rear pin from the other side.
Caution
If the large spring is not undone, the lever arm combination will jump up with force. Do not put hands or fingers over the lever arm
combination and use a pair of pliers to pull out the second rear pin.
8. First pull out the pin.
9. Remove the V-belt from the electromagnetic clutch.
10. Pull the mower out from under the side of the Trac.
b) Setting the Tension of the Trac V-belt
1. Take the mower out of the Trac, proceeding as described under a).
2. Remove the V-belt pulley and the arm of the revolving pulley.
3. Take off the plastic belt cover.
4. Unscrew the two hexagonal nuts on the toothed-belt pulley on the tension clamp revolving pulley.
5. Adjust the M10-nut until the prescribed tension on the toothed belt is obtained (see Fig. W7).
6. Re-tighten the two hexagonal nuts on the toothed-belt pulley. Now the belt is correctly adjusted.
7. To put the mower back on, proceed in the reverse order.
Note: It is not possible to adjust the tension of the toothed belt without taking the mower off of the Trac.
