Operation
Setting for Cutting Height (Fig. B10)
The adjusting lever is located in the right-hand mudguard. The lowest number corresponds to the lowest cutting height.
Support Wheels
The Trac is equipped with four support wheels. The job of the support wheels is to protect the blades from any unevenness. The
support wheels always have to be attached in the bottom position.
Important
Before you begin mowing, be sure the grass-catcher is attached properly.
Driving and Mowing
Proceed as follows:
1. Start the engine and drive to the area to be mown.
2. When you arrive on the lawn, turn on the blades with the switch (Fig. B3).
3. To attain the speed desired, slowly push down the gas pedal for forward travel.
Important
Before you turn on the blades, set the gas lever to the medium speed to avoid any abrupt shocks on the belt drive.
Working Speed
Use the lowest speed when mowing on slopes or high, wet grass. The shorter the grass, the higher the speed may be. For the
highest speed during transport runs (not while mowing), push down the gas pedal for forward travel.
Always: When there are obstacles, always turn off the blades immediately and put the mower in the highest position.
Caution
If the mowing blades hit a solid object, immediately turn off the blades and put the Trac in the highest position. Check the mowing
blades for any damage.
Important
As soon as one of the mowing blades hits a hard object (e.g. a rock), the shearing pins break in the area provided. Stop the engine
immediately! Check the condition of the blades! Replace broken shearing pins with ones made by the manufacturer. For inserting
the shearing pins, see (Fig. W3). Then make sure that all the retaining elements of the blades are bolted tight.
Tips for Mowing
1. We recommend either mowing lengthwise or crosswise, overlapping the cut slightly so that no strips remain uncut.
2. While mowing, adjust the driving speed to the height and density of the lawn.
Rule: The more grass there is to cut, the slower the speed should be.
Mowing on Slopes
All sloping terrain requires special caution. Do not mow if the incline is greater than 10° (17%). Always mow slopes going up and
down the slope and never crosswise to the slope. Avoid sudden changes of direction. First remove any rocks, branches, piles of
sand, etc.
Warning
When driving down a slope, always select a low speed! If you have to turn off the machine, push the brake pedal all the way down
and secure it with the parking brake lever. (Fig. B6, Item 2).
Emptying the Grass-catcher
Pull up the telescoping rod and press forward. After emptying, put the telescoping rod back.
Full Basket Warning Signal
A sensor sounds a signal as soon as the catcher basket is full. Turn off the mowing blades and drive to the location where the
emptying is to be carried out. To empty the basket, pull out the telescoping rod and tilt forward. When the catching basket is empty
you can turn the mowing blades back on.
Caution
1. When the holes of the grass-catcher get full of grass or get dirty, wash the entire box with a high-pressure cleaner and let it
dry.
2. From time to time clean the area surrounding the sensor, especially the bottom area.
Cleaning the Ejection Tunnel
1. Take the grass-catcher off of the Trac.
2. Remove the grass from the entire length of the inside of the tunnel up to the mowing blades.
3. Put the grass-catcher back on.
Headlamps
The function of the headlamps is integrated in the switch box (Fig. B9).
Safety Equipment
The engine will not start if:
1. The seat is not loaded by the weight of the driver.
2. The brake pedal is not pushed all the way down (Fig. B6).
3. The cutting switch is in the ON position (Fig. B3).
4. The grass-catcher is not attached.
