6. Release the locking lever for the carriage-moving
handwheel and move both carriages apart from each
other using this handwheel.
A pair of clamps is optionally available for the
pipe side of the machine, which can replace the
outer or the inner pair of normal clamps and can

be adjusted for position along the groove in the
pipe-side carriage of the machine. This pair allows
clamping a component shorter than a pipe (Tee,
elbow, and similar), in order to socket-weld it
into the fitting clamped on the fitting-side of the
machine.

Welding Process
Verify that the fitting is tightly clamped, also
using the securing bar of the carriage. It has to
be clamped so it will not move, neither during
Info
setting the fusion depth nor during welding.
For longer pipes, the length of pipe protruding
over the clamp has to be supported or manually
held with no risk of movement.
Verify that the heating element has the nominal tempera-
ture set at its selector. Move pipe and fitting away from
each other and position the heating element between
them. Slowly close the components to be jointed in on
the heating element, so they will slide into the socket
and over the spigot. The spacer bolt at the bottom of the
heating element ensures the correct distance of the car-
riages. When the right-hand carriage stops at this bolt,
the heating stage starts. The carriages can be locked using
the lever locking the handwheel that moves the carriages.
Wait for the heating time (see below) to be over, then
move the carriages apart, after unlocking the lever that
locks the handwheel for the carriages, to retract the
components from the heating element. Tilt the heating
element up and close the components in on each other,
using the handwheel, to the point where the carriages
are set up at the correct fusion depth. This can be recog-
nized from the carriages htting the fusion depth stopper
set previously by selecting the required fusion depth at
the setpoint assistant.
After the applicable cooling time (see below) is over, the
new joint can be removed from the clamp. During the
