straight pipeline, the insertion of the branch‑off fitting into
the opening, and allowing both to cool down as one new
piece. The process includes the following operating steps:
• The saddle-fitting socket welding machine is placed on
a stable and level surface.
• The clamps matching the saddle fitting size are set on‑
to the clamping console and, if intended, the support
rails with the movable pipe supports, installed for the
straight pipeline. The drilling head for the size of the
required opening in the straight pipeline is fitted to the
drive power tool.
• The heating spigot and the heating socket that match
the size of the components to be jointed are installed
on the heating element and aligned according to the re‑
quired jointing position.
• The heating element is connected to the power supply
and set to the temperature applicable to the intended
welding operation. Then the user has to wait for this
nominal temperature to be effectively reached. Mea‑
sure the actual temperature at four different points on
the heating spigot; the average of the temperatures has
to be in line with the nominal temperature.
• The required opening of the correct size is drilled in‑
to the straight pipeline and chamfered if required. The
90 deg. branch‑off fitting to be installed is clamped and
properly aligned. The welding surfaces of the straight
pipe and the saddle branch‑off fitting are cleaned. The
depth‑defining setpoints, opposite each other along the
main threaded shaft, for the fusion depth and the dis‑
tance to detaching in the change‑over stage are adjust‑
ed for the upcoming welding.
• The nipple of the branch-off fitting is slid into the heat‑
ing socket, the heating spigot, into the opening in the
pipe, and the surfaces of both are heated to plasticiza‑
tion.
• After the heating time, the socket and spigot on the
heating element are detached from them, and it is re‑
moved from in‑between them.
• The branch-off with plasticized nipple is then pushed
into the opening, the inside surface of which has also
plasticized, and no external forces must be applied prior
to their having completely cooled down.

Preparing the Welding Process
Install the proper heating spigot and socket for the diam‑
eters of the opening in the pipeline and the branch‑off fit‑
ting on the heating element. Install the drilling head that
matches the diameter of the opening to the drive power
