ADJUSTMENTS
5.1 SAFETY GUIDELINES _______________________________________________________
!
WARNING
To prevent injury, lower implements to the ground,
engage parking brake, stop engine and remove key
from ignition switch before making any adjustments or
performing maintenance.
Make sure the tractor is parked on a solid and level
surface. Never work on a tractor that is supported
only by the jack. Always use jack stands.
If only the front or rear of the tractor is raised, place
chocks in front of and behind the wheels that are not
raised.
When working on or near the engine, remove spark
plug wires and disconnect negative terminal of battery
to prevent accidental starting.
5.2 THROTTLE AND CHOKE ____________________________________________________
Check
throttle
adjustment
recommended rpm with throttle lever in its high speed
position. On tractors equipped with gas engines, adjust
choke control if engine is hard to start.
For other engine adjustments refer to the Engine
Owner's
Manual
manufacturer.
Choke - Gas Engines
1. Remove air cleaner to view carburetor.
2. Pull up choke control knob to the "Choke" position.
Carburetor choke should be completely closed.
3. If it isn't, loosen casing clamp screw (C) on engine.
Move casing, wire and engine choke lever until
choke butterfly on carburetor is completely closed.
4. Tighten casing clamp screw. Replace air cleaner.
Important: Make certain gasket is installed correctly on
lower air cleaner housing to prevent unfiltered air from
bypassing air cleaner element. See Section 6.5.

Distributor.
Replace, do not adjust, worn or damaged components.
Do not wear jewelry or loose fitting clothing when making
adjustments or repairs.

Throttle - Gas Engines
1. On engine loosen the throttle cable clamp (A).
2. Move throttle control lever to idle and start engine.
3. Push throttle control to fast.
4. Slide cable (B) in or out to obtain an engine
operating speed of 3600 rpm.
Throttle - Diesel Engines
Refer to engine manual for throttle adjustment.
After making adjustment at engine, adjust throttle lever so
it does not contact instrument panel when shifted to its
high speed position.
