Checkinggas-tightnessbeforeusingthegrill
Important: Never use a naked flame to check for leaks at the gas connections. If you smell gas, turn
off the gas cylinder immediately.
When you first use the gas grill at the start of a new season or after changing the gas cylinder, it is
imperative that you check the gas grill for any leaks.
Procedure:
•
Turn on the gas cylinder.
•
Turn all gas valve controls to the position "•".
•
Apply a soap-and-water solution made by mixing water with a proportion of detergent to all gas con-
nections.
•
If soap bubbles appear, it means that there is a leak at that point. Securely retighten the joint concer-
ned or repair it if necessary.
•
On no account use a naked flame to check for leaks.
If you smell gas and cannot find any leaking joints on the grill, turn off the gas cylinder, detach the
hose and immediately contact your supplier or the shop where you bought the appliance.
Gascylindersafetyinstructions
•
When replacing the gas cylinder, keep it well away from possible sources of ignition.
•
Do not smoke when you are handling gas cylinders.
•
Never store gas cylinders in enclosed spaces.
•
Store gas cylinders only in well ventilated areas and keep them away from direct sources of heat.
•
You can place the gas cylinder either in the casing or on non-flammable flat ground beside your gas
grill.
•
Always stand the gas cylinder upright.
•
Turn off the gas valve when the grill is not in use and use a safety cap, if you have one, to prevent any
leaks.
•
Never expose gas cylinders to excessive heat.
•
Only ever change the gas cylinder in well ventilated areas.
•
Never attempt any DIY modifications to a gas cylinder connector. Consult the manufacturer or an au-
thorised specialist retailer.
•
When the gas in the gas cylinder is running out, you can either have it refilled by an authorised specia-
list retailer or replace it with a new one.
•
The gas cylinder is filled to no more than 85% of its volumetric capacity so that the pressure does not
become too great if the temperature increases.
•
Have the gas cylinder checked every 10 years at an authorised dealer. The inspection data is imprinted
on the cylinder.
•
LPG is a petrochemical product similar to motor fuel and natural gas. It is gaseous at normal atmosphe-
ric pressures and temperatures. When sufficiently pressurised, e.g. inside a gas cylinder, it is liquid.
When the pressure is released, the liquid vaporises immediately and becomes gas.
•
The gas has a similar smell to natural gas. You should be able to recognise that smell.
•
The gas is heavier than air. That means that escaping gas may collect in low level locations and not dis-
perse.
•
The gas cylinder must always be fitted upright, and transported and stored with the safety cap fitted.
Gas cylinders must not be dropped and must always be handled with care.
•
Never transport or store gas cylinders in situations where the temperature could exceed 50°C (e.g. in a
car). For advice on the proper transportation of gas cylinders, contact your specialist gas appliance retai-
ler.
•
Handle "empty" gas cylinders just as carefully as full ones. Even if there is no more liquid in the gas cy-
linder, there may still be pressurised gas in the cylinder. Always turn off the valve on the cylinder before
disconnecting the cylinder from the appliance.
