Intended purpose
Lumbamed stabil is a support for partial
stress relief
of the lumbar vertebrae
via correction of lordosis.
Indications
All indications which require partial
stress relief of the lumbar vertebrae via
correction of lordosis, such as:
• Lower back pain (lumbago)
• Lower back pain with sciatica
• Lumbar vertebral canal stenosis
• Postural muscle imbalance in the
lumbar spine
• Spondylolisthesis
• Spondylosis
• Painful conditions of the lumbosacral
junction
• Intervertebral disc protrusion,
prolapse
Contraindications
• Open wounds in the area of the
orthosis
• Respiratory diseases such as COPD
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the

area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended users and patient target
groups
Healthcare professionals and patients,
including persons who play a supporting
role in care, are the intended users for
this device, provided that they have
received briefing on this from healthcare
professionals.
Patient target group: Healthcare
professionals should provide care to
adults and children, applying the
available information on the measure-
ments/sizes and required functions/
indications, in line with the information
provided by the manufacturer, and
acting under their own responsibility.
Note on wearing
Unless otherwise directed by your
doctor, do not wear the support for
more than 8 hours at a time. After
a break of approx. 2 hours it may
be refitted.
Fitting instructions
• If a pad has been prescribed for you
please first attach it to the inner fleece
strip as your orthopaedic technician
showed you. The wider surface always
faces upwards. (fig. 1)
• First secure the ends of the two
tension straps to the outer edge of the
fasteners. (fig. 2)
• Pass your left hand though the loop of
the lower fastener (no medi logo).
• Pass the support around your body
and pass your right hand through the
hand loop of the upper fastener (medi
label). (fig. 3+4)
