Procedure:
1. Choose one of the following options:
Option
If the Solar
Panel is being
mounted to a
pole,
If the Solar
Panel is being
mounted to a
flat surface,
2. Secure the Shoulder Strap to the Solar Panel.
3. Optional: For dual solar panel deployments, disconnect the battery cables from the Primary Solar
Panel before mounting:
a. On the primary Solar Panel, unfurl the cables that connect the panel and the battery.
b. To separate the connectors, gently depress the two locking tabs and pull the two halves of each
connector apart.
c. Wrap the free cabling back around the battery compartment so that it does not present a hazard
during mounting.
NOTE: To avoid damaging the connector, use a spanner wrench to gently depress the locking
tabs at the same time.
4. Lift the Solar Panel by the Shoulder Strap and carry the panel to the mounting location.
CAUTION: The assembled Solar Panel is heavy. Observe safe lifting practices when moving
the panel.
5. Hook the Solar Panel over the top of the mounting bracket hook and into the top of the mounting
bracket.
CAUTION: Ensure that both the Solar Panel hook and the Mounting Bracket hook are engaged.
6. Thread the Hex Bolts (2x) through the mounting holes at the top of the Solar Panel and into the
mounting bracket.
Actions
Install the Solar Panel Mounting Bracket with two Metal Band Straps:
a. Position the bracket facing a southerly direction.
b. Temporarily secure the top loops of the bracket with a Zip-Tie.
c. Loop the Metal Band Straps through the mounting loops to secure the
bracket against the pole.
d. Fasten the straps with the Hex Key Tool.
e. Remove the temporary Zip-Tie.
f.
Trim the excess material from the Metal Band Straps.
Install the Solar Panel Mounting Bracket with two Lag Bolts:
a. Ensure that the mounting surface is flat, and that the surface material is
capable of supporting the full weight of the assembled Solar Panel.
b. Insert a drill bit into the Power Drill chuck.
c. Hold the bracket against the surface with the hook facing away from the
surface.
d. Adjust the bracket to its final mounting location and tap two mounting holes
through the lag bolt holes.
e. Equip the Power Drill chuck with a socket bit and Lag Bolt.
f.
Screw the Lag Bolts through the bracket and into the surface.
g. Tighten the Lag Bolts securely.
