LIGHTING
Warning: After the first ignition, you may smell some unpleasant odors (due to the drying of the
glue used in the fittings or the paint) which will disappear after a short period of use of the
appliance. In all cases, ensure good ventilation of the environment. When the appliance is first
lit, we recommend loading a reduced quantity of fuel and slightly increasing the heating capacity of
the appliance. It is FORBIDDEN to use any liquid substances such as alcohol, petrol, oil and
similar. Never light the appliance when there are combustible gases in the room.
To ensure correct initial ignition of products treated with high-temperature paints, you need to
know the following information:
The construction materials of the products concerned are not homogeneous, in fact there
are cast iron and steel parts at the same time, refractory and majolica.
The temperature to which the body of the product is subjected is not uniform: from one
area to another, temperatures varying between 300°C and 500°C are detected.
Over the course of its life, the product is subjected to alternating cycles of switching on and
off during the same day, as well as cycles of intense use or absolute stoppage when the
seasons change.
The new device, before being considered seasoned, must be subjected to numerous start-
up cycles to allow all the materials and paints to complete the various elastic stresses.
In detail, the first thing to notice is the emission of odors typical of metals subjected to high
thermal stress, as well as wet paint.
Although this paint is tolerated at 250°C for a few hours during manufacture, it must exceed the
temperature of 350°C several times over a given period of time before it becomes completely
embedded in the metal surfaces.
It is therefore extremely important to follow these simple steps when lighting:
1. Make sure that the room where the appliance is installed is well ventilated.
2. When starting up for the first time, do not overload the combustion chamber (about half the
amount indicated in the instructions manual) and keep the product on continuously for at
least 6 to 10 hours with the dampers less open than the value indicated in the instruction's
manual.
3. Repeat this operation at least 4 to 5 times, or more if you can.
4. Then load more and more fuel (always following the maximum load instructions in the
installation manual) and, if possible, maintain long lighting periods, avoiding short ON/OFF
cycles, at least in this initial phase.
5. During initial start-up, no objects should be placed on the appliance, and in
particular on the enameled surfaces. Enameled surfaces must not be touched during
heating.
6. Once the "running-in" period is over, the product can be used as a car engine, avoiding
any sudden heating up with excessive loads.
To light the fire, we suggest using small pieces of wood with paper or other commercial lighting
aids. The air openings (primary and secondary) should be opened together. When the wood starts
to burn, you can load other fuels and adjust the combustion air according to the instructions in the
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION paragraph.
Thank you for always being present during this phase.
Never overload the appliance (see TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION / hourly consumption). Too
much fuel and too much air for combustion can cause overheating and therefore damage the
appliance. The warranty does not cover damage due to overheating of the equipment.
LOW-EMISSION FIRE LIGHTING
Smokeless combustion is a way of lighting a fire that considerably reduces emissions of harmful
substances. The wood burns progressively from top to bottom, so combustion is slower and better
controlled. The burnt gases pass through the high temperatures of the flame and burn almost
completely.
