NOTE
1.8.1 Galvanic Corrosion
The anodized coating of the AKMA housing provides some protection against chemical and galvanic corrosion.
This anodized coating may become compromised over time due to the exposure to water, salt, chemicals,
l
alkaline cleaners and physical damage.
It is recommended to install and maintain the motor free of prolonged contact with stainless steel and other metal
l
surfaces.
Install and maintain the motor free of prolonged contact with stainless steel and other metal surfaces to
prevent galvanic corrosion.
The AKMA servo motor is designed with o-rings and seals.
This isolates the aluminum and stainless steel surfaces and helps prevent galvanic corrosion.
l
The supplied sealed screws must be used when installing the motor.
l
New sealed screws should be used each time the motor is reinstalled.

Galvanic corrosion occurs when aluminum comes in contact with noble metals in the
l
presence of water, salt, alkaline cleaners and other chemicals.
While the anodized coating of the AKMA housing provides protection against galvanic
l
corrosion, the anodized coating may become compromised over time due to ware and
scratches caused by repeated cleaning with chemicals and incidental physical damage.
