mal operating conditions. Actual use and your experience will deter‐

Inspecting and Maintaining the
Pressure Washer
WARNING
■ Before carrying out any of the maintenance
work specified in this chapter
tain measures to reduce the risk of personal
injury from unintended activation: switch off
the pressure washer and disconnect the unit
from the power supply. Relieve all system
pressure and lock the spray gun trigger.
Proper maintenance of the pressure washer
includes the following activities:
► Inspecting hoses, couplings, connectors and
O-rings periodically and having a worn compo‐
nent replaced.
► Having worn, missing or damaged safety
labels replaced by an authorized STIHL serv‐
icing dealer.

17.1
Pressure Washer
Before troubleshooting, switch off the pressure washer and disconnect the unit from the power supply.
Relieve all system pressure by pulling the trigger switch. Lock the spray gun trigger.
Condition
The pressure washer
does not start although
the spray gun trigger is
pulled.
The pressure washer
does not start when
switched on. The elec‐
tric motor hums.
The pressure washer
switches off while in
operation.

Possible Cause
The power supply cord is not con‐
nected to an electrical outlet.
The electric motor is too warm.
The mains voltage is too low.
The power supply cord is not con‐
nected to an electrical outlet.
The pump is pre-filled with pump oil and does not
require replacement or maintenance.

Lubricating the Connections
To lubricate the connections:

► Grease the O-rings (1) with food-safe fitting
grease.
Remedy
► Connect the power supply cord to a
properly installed electrical outlet.
► Allow the pressure washer to cool at
ambient temperatures for approxi‐
mately 5 minutes.
► Clean the nozzle,
► Pull and hold the spray gun trigger and
switch on the pressure washer.
► Switch off other loads connected to the
same electrical circuit.
► Connect the power supply cord to a
properly installed electrical outlet.
