1. Important instructions

1.1. GENERAL WARNING

In confined space operations, safety is a matter of life or death for operators and
bystanders. This warning is your share of duties for achieving overall safety.

1.1.1. YOUR DUTY TO UNDERSTAND AND COMPLY.

1) Before using the Davitrac™, it is essential that the supervisor and operator read and review,
and understood the operating manuals of Davitrac™ and each associated accessory provided
by Tractel
accessories. All manuals related to the equipment being used must be made available at all
times to all operators.
2) These manuals should be available at all times to all users. Keep these instructions handy for
easy reference whenever required. Extra copies are available from Tractel®.
3) Before using this safety equipment, it is essential that users are trained in its use. Check the
condition of the product and associated equipment and ensure there is enough vertical
clearance.
4) Never operate the equipment if any warning, operating or capacity instructions affixed to the
device are obscured or missing. In such case contact Tractel for the supply of labels or
exchange of the unit (for stamped instructions) under commercial conditions.
5) The product may only be used by trained and skilled operators or by operators under the
oversight of a competent person being fully aware of the applicable safety regulations and
requirements of federal, state, provincial, and local safety regulations not only applicable to the
Davitrac™, but also to the entire confined space system or any component of it.
6) Equipment associated with the use of Davitrac™, must comply with applicable safety
regulations, local, state, federal and regional. Tractel denies liability for any incident due to non-
compliance of components not sold or not recommended by Tractel.
7) No modification or addition may be made to the equipment without prior written approval from
Tractel. The equipment must be transported and stored in its original packaging.
8) The Davitrac™ and attached equipment should not be used beyond its limits or in any situation
other than that for which it is designed: see "4. Functions and description."
9) Never load the Davitrac™ or components above their rated load.
10) This product is suitable for use in a temperature range from -31°F to +140°F. (-35°C to +60°C).

1.1.2. YOUR DUTY TO INSPECT AND MAINTAIN.

1) A visual inspection is required before each use; the operator must make sure that each
component is in good working order, in particular by inspecting the condition and presence of
the mast rotation ring on the mast. When it is put in place, the safety functions must not have
deteriorated in any way.
2) The product may not be used before an inspection by Tractel or by an authorized and trained
technician, who must first authorize the reuse of the system in writing, if:
i. it is not in a visibly good condition,
ii. Its safety is in doubt,
iii. it has been used to arrest a fall,
iv. it has not undergone a periodic inspection in the course of the previous 12 months; user
safety depends on the proper maintenance of the efficiency and strength of the equipment.
3) The manufacturer declines any responsibility for consequences of repairs or modifications
brought out of its control to the product, especially by replacement of original parts or repairs
by another manufacturer.
