10. Troubleshooting

Faults usually occur if the unit has
not been handled, cared for or
maintained properly. The following
table contains the most common
faults and remedies to eliminate
these faults. If you have any other
problems, please contact your
nearest service centre authorised
by the manufacturer, or your near-
est authorised specialist dealer.
Fault
Unusual noises,
the implement rattles.
Erratic running,
the implement vibrates strongly.
The blade shaft does not rotate.
Motor does not start.
Motor starts for a short time then
suddenly stops with a loud bang.

Possible Cause
The motor screws, its fixture or
the blade shafts are loose.
Blade shaft damaged
(out-of-balance),
fixture at the bearings loose.
Driving belt defective.
Driving belt slips.
Start button not pressed in.

Choke lever not set to choke when
the motor is cold.
Tecumseh
Primer was not operated when
starting the motor.
No fuel, fuel tank empty.
Spark plug defective or
fuel tank empty.
Cylinders, pistons and bearing
of crankshaft have seized.
No motor oil in crankcase.

Remedy
Tighten bolts. Contact specialist
workshop / service centre.
Retighten the bearing screws.
Have damaged parts replaced
by the specialised workshop /
service station.
Contact specialist workshop /
service centre.
Readjust the belt tension.
Press start button.
Set the choke lever to choke.

Press the primer several times
(see Putting your Lawnmower into
Operation).
Clean spark plug and / or
fill the fuel tank.
Motor overhaul at specialist
workshop required.
Check the work area before
starting work. Remove any foreign
bodies present (e.g. stones,
branches or bones). Check for
foreign bodies whilst working.
