*Guidelines for expressing milk under very clean conditions:
Before expressing breast milk, mothers should wash their hands with soap and water or an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer. The pump parts, bottles and pumping area must be clean.
Breasts and nipples do not need to be washed before pumping.
• These guidelines for storage and thawing of breast milk are a recommendation. Contact
your lactation consultant or breastfeeding specialist for further information.
• Store breast milk in the coldest spot of the refrigerator (at the back of the glass shelf above
the vegetable compartment).

10.2 Transporting and storing your breast milk in a Medela
carry bag
The carry bag has an insulated compartment designed to fit Medela's 5 oz (150 ml) bottles.
To keep the bottles cold, an ice pack is recommended and should be placed in the insulated
compartment next to the bottles.
The Medela Breast Pump Carry bag incorporates features:
• The insulated compartment can include up to 3 bottles with lids holding a volume of 5oz
(150ml) each.
• Water resistant microfiber material for easy cleaning.
• An ice pack is not included and must be purchased separately.
