Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing this PUKY road
bicycle. You have bought a high quality prod-
uct. This user manual contains information on
operating your bike safely and maintenance.
If you have questions please contact your
specialist dealer or visit our website:
www.puky.de.
The first trip
You child's first contact with public traffic is a
real challenge to your child and your responsi-
bility to supervise. We recommend not over-
straining your child. If your child has not yet
developed a sense of balance by practicing
with a scooter, bike without pedals or toy bike
we strongly advise you to observe the follow-
ing safety precautions. In all cases practice
cycling with your child in a protected space
before moving to a public traffic area.
Avoiding dangers
z Only allow your child to ride in public spaces
when you are sure that s/he can do so
safely.
z In order for your child to behave correctly on
public streets your child must
understand the most important rules of road
traffic.
z Do not demand too much of your child.
Other road users, especially cars unsettle
inexperienced, new road users.
User Manual
Cycling technique
Explain how to use the bike before
your child uses it for the first time. S/he
should get to know the various components of
the bike while it is stationary. This applies in
particular to using the brakes. Practice braking
with your child in a protected space (e.g. a
play street). Braking the front wheel too hard
may block the wheel – and result in a fall. Be
careful if the road is wet or covered with grav-
el! You should always use cycle paths when
they are available – the adults should be an
example in this.
Legal notes:
Your new children's bike meets all the require-
ments of the German Road Traffic Authorisa-
tion Order (StVZO).
Using the bike
The permitted weight for the bike (cy-
clist incl. bike and any luggage) is 20''
max. 60 kg; 24'' max. 100 kg. The permitted
load on the rack is independent of its design
(refer to rack mark). However we recommend
not using the rack to carry loads on children's
bikes for safety reasons. PUKY bikes are con-
structed robustly but jumps, steps and ramps
go beyond the proper use.
