Cause
The fall arrest device cannot be opened
The fall arrest device holds the load on the safety rope.
Mechanical defect.
Fall arrest device activated by normal downwards travel.
SAFETY-STOP
Hoisting gear speed too fast.
Fall arrest device triggering speed set incorrectly.
Speed difference between suspension rope and safety rope too great
when starting movement.
The centrifugal force weight does not turn.
Soiling or defect.
Ice buildup
BSO 2050/2360: The control pin is not visible after the safety rope has been fed in.
The rope has not been fed in correctly.
Mechanical defect.
Fall arrest devices with limit switch: The hoisting gear moves upwards but not downwards.
Limit switch connection with the hoist controller has failed.
Wire breakage.
Limit switch defective.
The rope cannot be fed in.
Rope tip faulty.
Fall arrest device is closed.
Fall arrest devices with remote activation: Remote activation does not function.
Overheating
Connector contact not correct.

Elimination
–
Move the load upwards on the suspension rope.
–
Replace the fall arrest device and send in for repair.
–

Check the hoisting gear.

Replace the fall arrest device and send in for repair.
–
No tensioning weight on safety rope. Attach tensioning weight.
–
Replace the fall arrest device and send in for cleaning or repair.
–
Carefully use hot air to heat it up (70 °C max).
–
Pull the rope out and feed it back in correctly.
–
Replace the fall arrest device and send in for repair.
–
Plug in connector.
–
Have an electrician replace the wire.
–
Have it checked by an electrician and return the fall arrest device for
repair if necessary.
