Safety
Unimotor UM has been designed to be operated with Control Techniques drives, such as Unidrive SP, Digitax ST,
M'Ax and MuiltiAx, while Unimotor fm and Unimotor hd motors have been designed to be operated with Control
Techniques drives, such as Unidrive SP and Digitax ST. They must not be put into service within the European
Union unless the machinery into which it is to be incorporated has been declared in conformity with the provisions
of the machinery directive.
Before you install or service the servo motor you should be properly trained and qualified to do so.
Unimotors built to customer specification.
Motors are frequently supplied customised to suit individual customer requirements. Control Techniques
Dynamics will never recommend a design which is considered unsafe, and accepts a duty of care to ensure that
proposals are not dangerous.
Design changes to Control Techniques Dynamics motors specified by the customer will change the working
limits and specification of the motor, and may affect the mechanical or electrical safety integrity. These changes
are deemed to be acceptable and approved by the customer.
The customer takes ultimate responsibility to ensure the safety integrity of their machine, the components and
specification of components fitted therein.
Keep hands and clothing clear of rotating parts.
Secure motors correctly before operating.

Motors can run hot.
Incorrect drive setup can destroy the motor.
Do NOT run keyed motors when no shaft components are fitted.
CAUTION
Do NOT fit or remove cables while the drive is powered on.
Handling
Do NOT lift the Unimotor by holding the shaft or connectors.
Care should be taken when lifting the larger frame size motors, which can weigh as much as

85kg.
Use mechanical assistance where possible. The 190mm and 250mm frame size motors have

lifting eyes to aid handling.
Transportation
All Unimotors have been tested and inspected before leaving the factory and are packed in perfect condition.
When you receive the motor, please check it for any external damage it may have received in transit. If you see
anything wrong write out a damage notification statement in the presence of the carrier.
Storage
Store the motor only in an enclosed, dry; ventilated and vibration free place within temperature limits -15°C to
40°C. Any damage caused by incorrect storage or handling is not covered by the defects warranty.
