The user is personally responsible for any use of this PPE which does not comply with the requirements of this manual and in the
caseof non-compliance with the security measures applicable to PPE specified by this manual.
The use of this PPE is restricted to persons in good health, certain medical conditions may affect the safety of the user, in case of
doubtcontact a physician.
Adhere strictly to the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
This product is inseparable from a comprehensive fall protection system (EN363).
Before any use, refer to the recommendations for use for each component of the system.
This fall arrest device is connected by its handle to the anchor point (EN795).
The fastening point (located at the top of the casing) of the fall arrest device is connected to the anchoring point (EN795) of the
structure by a connector (EN362).
The end of the strap or cable is connected to a rear fastening point of a harness (EN361) by a connector (EN362).
(The sternal attachment point of a harness will be used only in exceptional circumstances).
To be implemented with the fall arrest device, the connectors (EN362) should have a swivel-type pivoting function.
The fall arrest harness (EN361) is the only body grip to be allowed for use with a fall arrest system.
The fall arrest device is equipped either with a retractable strap or cable.
The fall arrest devices can be equipped with elements of different endings (EN354 swivel) or different connectors (EN362).
In these cases, follow the instructions described in their own manual.
Certain fall arrest devices are equipped with a fall indicator function visible on the swivel (see reference table).
Some fall arrest devices have special features (see reference table)
- they can be specially designed for horizontal use. See specific information.
OPERATION: (EXCLUDED REFERENCES AN13006 YY) :
When attached to the anchor point above the user, this fall arrest device allows for large vertical movements and large horizontal
movements on a horizontal or inclined plane.During the user's movement phases, the cable or strap is wound and unwound on a
drum. The cable or the strap is constantly held tightby a return spring. In the case of a fall, a lock blocks the progress of the cable or
strap and instantly stops the initiated fall.
For fall arrest devices equipped with the fall indicator function: a red colour appears on the swivel during a fall.

ESTABLISHMENT AND/ OR ADJUSTMENTS:
It is recommended to assign a fall arrest device for each user.
This PPE can only be used by one person at a time.
The fall arrest system will be attached to an anchorage point above the user (minimum resistance: 12 kN (EN795).
Unless otherwise indicated, the fall arrest device should not be used in the "HORIZONTAL USE" configuration (see definition below).
During all operations, be careful not to twist the strap: the user's movements should not cause twisting of the strap, do not let a twisted
strap wrap inside the casing of the fall arrest device.
A pendulum movement can occur during a fall. To limit this pendulum movement, the work area or the lateral movements must be
limited. They should not exceed a 40° angle from the vertical axis passing through the anchor point of the fall arrest device ⑧.
It is recommended not to suddenly drop the cable or strap when it is unwinding ⑦. It is best to accompany it back intothe casing.
HORIZONTAL USE (following sheet CNB 11.060): Horizontal use is the configuration in which the fall arrest device is attached to an
anchor point below the sternal or dorsal harnessattachment point.
The fall arrest devices with the diagram ⑨, are certified for horizontal use on edges with a radius of r>0.5 mm/ Type A - sheet CNB
11.060 ⑮.
The fall arrest strap devices require no additional element to be used horizontally.
If the risk assessment carried out before the start of work shows that the edge is very sharp and/ or degraded can degrade the cable
orstrap:
- Appropriate measures must be taken before starting work to prevent a fall from the edge or,
- install protection on the falling edge or,
- contact the manufacturer.
The device's anchorage point must always be located above or level with the work surface.
A pendulum movement can occur during a fall. In this case, the force of impact against a structure may cause serious injury or even
death.
