4.2 Cleaning and care in the homecare area

4.2.1 General information

Health risks due to the handling of infectious or pathogenic
germs
Infectious and pathogenic germs in the aspirate cause health risks.
• Never operate the device without bacterial filter without the adapter
for disposable canister set.
• Replace the bacterial filter for the reusable secretion canister system
at least every 6 month or as needed when used exclusively for one
patient!
• Wear suitable disposable gloves in doing so.
• The reuse of bacterial filters for multiple patients is prohibited for
hygiene and safety reasons!
• Replace the disposable liner "OneWay" incl. suction tube in accord-
ance to the respectively applicable hygiene instructions, if it is full, prior
to each new patient or weekly at the latest.
• Prior to passing the device on to another patient resp. to other
persons, processing by Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG or by an
authorized service partner of Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG is
strictly required! For that purpose observe the information regarding the
further use of the device (see section 4.3).
• After each aspiration, all components that have come into contact with
the aspirate must be cleaned, disinfected or disposed of.
• The aspirate and the parts contaminated with aspirate must be
disposed of properly.
Health risks resp. damages of the device due to the han-
dling of disinfectants
• If you have the possibility to use disinfectants, please observe the
information in section 4.1. Otherwise please follow the indications of
section 4.2.2 till 4.2.8!

4.2.2 Cleaning of the surface of the device

Clean the surfaces of the device regularly.
The device can be wiped with a damp, lint-free cloth. Repeated cleaning procedures
may result in minor discolorations of the plastic components of the housing. However
these do not affect the function of the device.
If the interior of the device comes into direct contact with liquids
or solids, the device must be inspected by
Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG or by a service partner
authorized by Löwenstein Medical GmbH & Co. KG.
