Instruction Manual
Adjust the back stop of the quick-clamping device to align the
centre of the workpiece beneath the centre of the cut-off wheel:
Loosen the back stop.
Insert the workpiece and adjust the back stop.
Tighten the back stop.
If you also need to adjust the quick-clamping device, place it
parallel to the back stop and tighten it.
Irregular workpieces without plane clamping surfaces must be
clamped using special clamping tools, as the workpieces must not
move during the cutting. This could result in damage to the cut-
off wheel or to the sample itself. Use the T-slots to mount the
special clamping tools. Struers offers a kit of Clamping Tools (See
Accessories).
To achieve faster cutting, orientate the workpiece so that the
wheel will cut the smallest possible cross-section.
If the cutting is temporarily stopped by pressing STOP
cutting, the cut-off wheel moves up to the position from which you
started the cutting (the cut-off wheel does not, however, retract
when Unitom-5 is in STAY function). If you want to continue from
the position at which the cutting was stopped, you may press F1:
Continue in the CUTTING menu:
After pressing F1: Continue, the cut-off wheel moves down
quickly to the position at which the cutting was stopped, and
starts cutting at the pre-set feed speed.
In case the protection guard has been opened before using the
continue function, a message appears, reminding you that the
workpiece may have been moved and the cut-off wheel may have
been changed.
