PLASMASKÆRING
Fordele ved plasmaskæring
Plasmaskæring har adskillige fordele frem
for acetylenskæring.
Acetylenskæring er en proces, hvor mate-
rialet bliver brændt bort v.h.a. den tilsatte ilt.
Derfor er acetylenskæring begrænset til
materialer, der har flammepunket under
smeltepunktet.
Plasmaskæring er en smelteproces, idet
plasmatemperaturen er på ca. 15000°C,
der smelter alle ledende materialer. Plas-
maens hastighed er 2 - 3 gange større end
lydens, og presser det smeltede materiale
bort.
En yderligere fordel ved den høje skæreha-
stighed er, at man undgår, at skæreemnet
tilføres uønsket varme og deraf følgende
ulemper.
Pilotlysbuen
Pilotlysbuetænding betyder, at start af
skæring sker problemløst selv på malet
plade. Ønsker man at starte midt på en
plade tykkere end 1 mm, skal pistolen
holdes skråt i startøjeblikket.
Når plasmastrålen er igennem pladen, skal
pistolen holdes lige. Derved kan det smel-
tede materiale lettere komme væk fra
skærestedet. Når skæringen er igang, skal
pistolen holdes lige.

Advantages when plasma cutting
Plasma cutting has several advantages
over acetylene cutting. Acetylene cutting is
a process where the material is burnt away
by means of the oxygen added. Therefore
acetylene cutting is limited to materials
having a flash point below the melting
point.
Plasma cutting is a melting process, as the
plasma temperature is of 15,000°C which
melts all conducting materials, and the
velocity of plasma, which is 2-3 times faster
than that of sound, forces the molten mate-
rials away. Another advantage of the high
cutting speed is that excessive heat and
the drawbacks resulting from it are preven-
ted.
The pilot arc
Pilot arc ignition implies that cutting starts
without problems even on coated plates. If
one wants to start cutting in the middle
of a plate thicker than 1 mm the torch
should be held at an angle when the arc
is initiated. When the plasma beam has
cut through the plate the torch should be
held upright. Then the molten material can
easily get away from the cutting area.
When cutting is in progress the torch
should be held upright.
