SPARK PLUG
Keeping the spark plug in good condition
will reduce fuel consumption and increase
engine performance.
To perform the check, just extract the spark
plug cap and unscrew the spark plug by
means of the provided wrench.
Carefully clean the electrodes using a
wire brush. Blow the spark plug with com-
pressed air to prevent any residues from
getting into the engine.
Examine the distance between the elec-
trodes with a feeler. This distance should
be from 0,6 - 0,7 mm. If it is not, it may be
corrected by bending the earth electrode.
The spark plug may appear:
black
"fat" carburation
light brown
appropriate carburation
white
"thin" carburation
Check as well that there are no cracks in
the insulation or corroded electrodes. If so,
replace immediately.
Lubricate the spark plug thread, and then
(when the engine is cold) screw in the spark
plug by hand to its abutting end. Finally
tighten the spark plug with the spanner.
WARNING:
Do not check while the engine is hot.
