CAUTION: Please do not use any non-stick sprays on the hot plates, as this
might damage the non-stick coating on the hot plates.
Note: The notice HEATING might flash in the display during grilling. This is nor-
mal and shows that the set temperature is being maintained.
11. Closing the hot plate and setting angle resp. height:
Close the top hot plate by lowering the metal handle. The top of the grill is
equipped with two different features for optimal warming, grilling or gratinat-
ing:
a) The top is moveable to enable unproblematic tilting to the front and back,
making the top hot plate always completely touch the sandwich / grillables. This
ensures that the food's upper side is just as evenly heated and grilled as its un-
derside.
Note: The surfaces of the grill are very hot during and after
usage. If you wish to manually adjust the top plate angle,
NEVER touch the top with your bare hands. Instead, use the
handle at the upper PLATE RELEASE button (M) to set the an-
gle. Additionally, you could use kitchen gloves to protect your hands.
WARNING: NEVER use the handle by the plate release button (M) to lift
or lower the grill top! Always use the heat insulated metal handle!
WARNING: The plate release button and its handle might get very hot during
use. Therefore, only use the handle as pictured.
b) The top's height can be set to six different height levels.
This means you can f.e. reduce the top's weight when you wish to grill pressure
sensitive foods like a fish. You can set the height so that the upper hot plate
touches the food while being supported by the height adjuster.
Alternatively, you can make the upper hot plate hang just over the grillables so
that it does not touch them at all but instead grills just above them. This is ideal
if you wish to gratinate f.e. cheese on toast.
To set the top's height, lift the top to the desired height, then push the slider for
closing and opening (L) to the corresponding height level and slowly lower the
top so that the slider comes down on the height level.
12. If desired, activate the timer:
Your grill is equipped with a timer which counts down from and displays the set
time. To set the timer:
a) Check if the grill is hot and the HEATING notice has disappeared from the dis-
play. The grillables should be placed on the hot plates.
