be started (see 5.2).
– W hen the cutting means is engaged, the
sound warning signals that the grass catcher
is full (see 5.3.6).
4.6 CUTTING MEANS ENGAGE AND
BRAKE CONTROLS (Fig. 4.1 no.6).
This lever has two positions, as shown on the
plate:
Position
«A» = C utting means
Position
«B» = Cutting means engaged
– I f you engage the cutting means without tak-
ing the necessary safety precautions, the
engine shuts down and cannot be restarted
(see 5.2).
– O n disengaging the cutting means (Pos. «A»),
a brake is simultaneously activated which
stops their rotation within a few seconds.
4.7 CUTTING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
LEVER (Fig. 4.1 no.7)
There are seven positions for this lever, shown
as «1» to «7» on the label, which correspond to
various heights between 3 and 8 cm.
To go from one position to another, move the le-
ver sideways and put it back in one of the seven
stop notches.
4.8 REVERSE GEAR CUTTING CONSENT
PEDAL (Fig. 4.1 no.8)
By pressing and holding the pedal down, it is
possible to switch to reverse gear with the cut-
ting means engaged without causing the engine
to stop.
4.21 HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION
4.21.1 BRAKE PEDAL (Fig. 4.2 no.21)
This pedal works the brake on the rear
wheels.
4.21.2 SPEED CHANGE LEVER
(Fig. 4.2 no.22)
This lever is used to engage wheel drive and
adjust machine speed, when in forward and
reverse gear.
– F orward machine gear gradually increases
by moving the gear lever towards «F»; re-
verse is engaged by moving the gear lever
disengaged
towards «R».
– R eturn to neutral position «N» occurs auto-
matically when the brake pedal is pressed
(Fig. 4.2 no.21) or can be performed manu-
ally, when the pedal is not used.
IMPORTANT The lever is blocked in the
«N» position when the parking brake is en-
gaged and cannot be moved until the parking
brake is disengaged and the brake pedal is
released.
4.21.3 HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION
DISENGAGEMENT LEVER
(Fig. 4.2 no.23)
This lever has two positions as shown on the
label:
«A» = T ransmission engaged: for all uses,
when moving and during cutting;
«B» = T ransmission disengaged: this
makes it much easier to move the
machine by hand, with the engine
turned off.
IMPORTANT To avoid damaging the trans-
mission unit, this operation must be carried
out only when the engine has stopped with
the lever (Fig. 4.22) at position «N».
4.22 MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION
4.22.1 CLUTCH / BRAKE PEDAL (Fig.
4.2 no.21.A)
This pedal has a double function during the
first part of its travel it acts as a clutch, en-
gaging and dis-engaging drive to the wheels,
and in the second part it acts as a brake on
the rear wheels.
It is important not to take too long in using
the clutch as this can cause overheating and
damage the transmission belt.
NOTE When the machine is in movement,
keep your foot off the pedal.
4.22.2 SPEED CHANGE LEVER (Fig. 4.2
no.22.A)
