b. If the measured spring length or inter-coil clear-
ance deviates from the specified value, correct
the length or clearance by loosen the tension rod
nut and turning the rod.

3) Inspection of the belt:
a. Remove the mower from the rider in reverse
order of mounting.
b. Remove the cover
c. Check the belt for damage and smearing.
If it is smeared with oil, water or dust, wipe it
clean with dry cloth. If it is damaged, replace it
with a new one.
4) How to replace the belt:
Caution:
An improperly installed belt will not only affect
the performance of the mower greatly but will
also lead to shorter service life of the belt.
a. Loosen the tension rod
b. Disengage the belt from the pulleys and install a
new one.
Note:
Use a belt specified by ISEKI.
c. Adjust the spring tension with the tension rod as
shown in "Inspection of the belt tension".
Note:
Adjust the tension so that the clearances between
spring coils become 1 to 1.2 mm (0.04 to 0.05
inch).
d. Tighten the tension rod lock nut.
e. Install the right and left cover.
