7.4 Connection
Before you start the installation, make sure that the GSM switching module is not
connected to the power supply.
The electrical connection must be installed by a specialist.
Make sure not to connect a deep-discharged Li/Po or Li/Ion rechargeable battery.
a) "Li/Po" terminals (1)
A Li/Po or Li/Ion rechargeable battery can be connected to these terminals. The rechargeable battery
serves as a backup battery. It lasts up to 75 hours (depending on the reception conditions) in case of
a power failure.
Connect it with the correct polarity. The polarity is indicated on the board.
Never connect a deep-discharged rechargeable battery to the "Li/Po" terminals (1).
If the battery voltage falls below 3.5 V/DC, the module generates an SMS to notify you
of the battery state.
b) "DC" terminals (4)
Connect the operating voltage to the "DC" terminals (4). Operating voltage is between 4.8 and 6 V/
DC. The supplied current must be at least 700 mA. Connect it with the correct polarity. The polarity
(positive/+ and negative/-) is indicated on the board.
When the operating voltage is properly connected to the "DC" terminals (4), the
rechargeable battery connected to the "Li/Po" terminals (1) is charged to about 75 %
of its capacity.
c) "IN1" (6) and "IN2" (5) terminals
The "IN1" (6) and "IN2" (5) terminals are optocoupler inputs (also called "digital inputs"). Depending
on the configuration, these two inputs generate an SMS notification upon a level change.
d) "INCALL" terminals (7)
These terminals are a potential-free relay contact (N.O.; max 8 A at 250 V/AC or 24 V/DC) which is
activated by an incoming call. The switching period can be adjusted (see chapter: "9.3 Setting the
switching period of the "INCALL" output (7)").
The GSM switching module does not answer incoming calls. No costs are incurred.
