21. The stopfor™ fall-arrester must be used on a
vertical belay support, or on a support forming a
maximum angle of 30° with respect to the vertical.
It can be used in the horizontal position for work
on a terrace where there is no more than 1.50 m
from the perpendicular to the edge (see figure 6).

2. Definitions and pictograms

2.1. Definitions
"User": Person or department responsible for
the management and safety of use of the product
described in the manual.
"Technician" : Qualified person in charge of the
maintenance operations described in, and authorised
by the user manual, who is competent and familiar
with the product.
"Operator": Operational person involved in the use of
the product as it is intended to be used.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls
from height.
"Connector": Connection
components of a fall-arrest system. This is EN 362
compliant.
"Fall-arrest harness": Body harness designed
to arrest falls. It consists of straps and buckles.
It features fall-arrest attachment points marked with
an A if they can be used alone, or marked with A/2 if
they are to be used in combination with another A/2
point. This is EN 361 compliant.
"Fall-arrester including a flexible anchor line":
Subsystem consisting of a flexible anchor line (rope),
a guided-type fall arrester with an automatic blocking
system that is secured to the flexible anchor line, and a
connector or a line terminated by a connector.
"Maximum operating load": Maximum weight of the
operator, equipped with the correct PPE, workwear,
tools and the parts they need to perform the task at
hand.
"Fall-arrester system": Set composed of the
following items:
– Fall-arrest harness.
– Self-retracting fall-arrester,
absorber, or mobile fall prevention device with rigid
belaying supports, or mobile fall prevention device
with flexible belaying supports.

2.2. Pictograms
DANGER: Placed at the beginning of the line,
refers to instructions to avoid injury to persons,

or health of the operator or that of others, and/or not

3. Operation
Check before use:
• that neither the casing nor the flanges are deformed.
• the visual state of the anchor line and the lanyard;
• the blocking efficiency of the stopfor™ fitted onto the
anchor line: tug sharply on the device in the opposite
direction to that indicated by the arrow on the casing;
• the loosening of the jaw and the movement of the
stopfor™ on the anchor line by pivoting the lever
upwards;
• the system's installation conditions (see chapter 8:
"Installation");
• the correct orientation of the stopfor™ on the anchor
line;
• the state of the harness and connectors' associated
components.
