Cleaning and replacing the air filter (Illustration W )
IMPORTANT
Never let the engine start or run whilst the air filter is removed.
–
Open the cover (1), pull down and out and remove.
–
Remove the filter element (2) carefully and knock gently onto a smooth surface if soiled. Replace if heavily soiled or
damaged.
–
Never lubricate the insert with oil or blow it with compressed air. Severely dirty or oily filter elements must be replaced.
–
After cleaning or replacement, insert the filter element into the air filter plate.
–
Insert the hooks (3) on the cover (1) into the seat (4) at the bottom in the air filter plate.
–
Tilt the cover upwards and close with care.
In the case of unfavourable conditions (heavy dust development), the mower must be cleaned every time it is used,
otherwise after 25 operating hours or every season.
(Please see original spare parts and accessories for order no. of filter element)
Checking the spark plug (Illustration Y )
To check for wear, remove the spark plug connector (1) and unscrew the spark plug (2). If the electrode is badly worn the
spark plug must be replaced as a matter of course. (Order no. see original spare parts list and accessories).
Otherwise it is sufficient to clean the spark plug and set the electrode gap to 0.5 mm. Screw the spark plug (pay attention to
sealing ring) into the engine by hand and tighten using the socket wrench. Press on spark plug connector. Replace the spark
plug annually.
Correct winter storage of the engine (or when not used for a long period of time)
Fuel
We recommend adding Fuel Fresh or a similar fuel additive to the last tank filling before storage or longer standstill periods.
This avoids starting problems when using the mower next time.
Mix fresh fuel and additive in a separate container. Comply with the instructions on the fuel additive container with regard to
the mixing ratio.
Before taking the mower into storage, fill the tank right up to the tpo with the fuel/additive mixture.
GB
NOTE
Filling the fuel tank reduces the volume of air in the tank and slows down the fuel aging process.
If no fuel additive is used in the last tank filling:
–
Empty the petrol tank and allow the engine to run until it stops due to lack of fuel.
IMPORTANT
When starting the mower again after the winter or after longer standstill periods, only use fresh fuel in the tank.
Engine
–
Let the engine run warm.
–
Switch off engine and disconnect spark plug cable.
–
Drain off the oil while the engine is still warm. Fill with fresh oil (for quantity and type, see technical data).
–
Clean grass and chaff from cylinder and cylinder head fins and around muffler.
–
Always keep the machine in a clean condition in a closed, dry room out of reach of children.
