Servicing the wheels (Illustration S )
Oil the bearings of the wheels once a year or every 50 operating hours.
Remove wheel covers.
Loosen the hexagon head nuts using a socket wrench and remove the wheels.
After oiling the bearings, push the wheels on and tighten them again so that they still turn easily but without any play.
16 SERVICING THE ENGINE
WARNING
Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and can cause serious illness or death.
Do not run an engine in an enclosed area, such as a garage, even with doors and windows open.
Move the machine to an outside area before starting the engine.
IMPORTANT
To clean the engine and for maintenance work, do not place the engine or mower on its side but tilt forwards O
(spark plug upwards) because otherwise there may be problems starting the engine. When tipping the mower
forwards, make sure that the ejection flap is not damaged. Secure the mower in the raised position!
ATTENTION
When tilting or placing the mower on its side, ensure that no oil or fuel comes out of the machine. Fire hazard!
The regular implementation of the prescribed maintenance and care work are the prerequisite for a permanent and fault-free
functionality of the motor and also the basic requirement for any guarantee claims.
The motor should be kept clean, particularly on the outside, and the silencer and cylinder area must always be kept free from
foreign bodies (e.g. grass residue). The exhaust and motor reach very high temperatures when in use. Flammable foreign
bodies such as foliage, grass etc. may catch fire.
Perfect cooling can also only ensured when cylinder ribs are always clean.
IMPORTANT
Never use a pressure cleaner or ordinary water jet to clean the motor. Damages or expensive repairs can be the
consequence of such action.
Oil change
NOTE
For environmental reasons, we recommend that the oil change is performed by an authorised workshop.
Check oil level regularly.
Be sure correct oil level is maintained. Check every 5 hours or every day before starting engine (see "Check the oil level" and
"Filling with oil").
Change oil
The first oil change of a new engine is necessary after 5 operating hours, and thereafter every 50 hours of operation or at
least once per mowing season.
Before the engine or whole device is tipped to drain the oil off, empty the petrol tank and allow the engine to run until it
stops due to lack of fuel.
Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable.
Change the oil with the engine still warm.
To change the oil, remove the dipstick from the filler.
Lay the mower on its side so that the used oil drains into the catch tray.
Old oil should be disposed off in accordance with the relevant local regulations and on no account be
discharged into the sewerage system or into the ground.
Turn the mower upright and pour high quality oil (for quantity and type, see technical data) into the filler. Screw on
dipstick and check oil (see Chapter Filling with oil, illustration Y1 )!
