7) MOUNTING THE CONTROL BOX OF THE HTL

The standard control unit consists of 2 separate boxes
(one with 3 buttons, one with 1 safety button) that fully
conforms with the safety prescriptions of the CE Machine
Directive.
The position of the control box needs to serve 2 different
requirements:
1. on the one hand, it needs to be mounted in such a
way that the operator of the lift can maintain clear vis-
ual control over the platform and the working area at
all times;
2. on the other hand its location shall keep the operator's
hands and head clear of the danger zone created by
the rear side of the body and the raising or closing
platform.
As a compromise between the 2 points, the CE Safety
regulations foresee that the distance between the rear
edge of the body and the centre line of the external control
box shall be 400 mm plus/minus 100 mm. [See Fig. 7.1]
M
E
Define the correct position for the control boxes, in func-
tion of the legal requirements given in Fig. 7.1, the posi-
tion and shape of any awkward reinforcements in the side
panel of the vehicle body (the control boxes require a flat
surface for mounting), and the height of the spare wheel if
it is mounted or retrofitted inside in the area behind the
wheel boxes.
M
Cut the 2 slots for the 3-button control and the
1-button control in the side panel, using the
outside dimensions of the control box, without
the lid, as a reference. [See Fig. 7.2]
