Park Assist 2.0
HOW IT WORKS
The "Park Assist 2.0" automatically steers the vehicle into front-in and parallel parking spaces,
as well as driving out of parallel parking spaces.
SYSTEM INFORMATION
• Park Assist is activated using a button in the centre console
• Drives at a maximum speed of 40 km/h and a distance of between 0.5 and 1.5 metres
from the edge of the road
• The system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect parking spaces at the side of the road whilst
driving along
• Parking spaces are even detected on bends, between trees and on pavements
• Both sides of the road are scanned for parking spaces (e.g. in one-way streets)
• The driver sets the indicator to define which side of the road to park on
• Parking spaces are selected that are at least 0.8 metres longer (parallel parking) and
0.7 metres wider (front-in parking) than the vehicle itself
• If a sufficiently long gap is detected, a message to this effect appears on the
multifunction display (MFD)
• The driver is directed to the correct starting position and then prompted to engage
reverse gear
• Once reverse gear has been engaged, the automatic steering function is activated and
a corresponding message appears on the MFD
• The driver only has to accelerate
• When the reversing is complete, there is an audible signal (together with a visual one,
depending on equipment)
• The MFD prompts the driver to drive forwards slightly and, if necessary, to reverse as
well in order to correct the parking position
CUSTOMER BENEFITS
• Park Assist supports the driver by
carrying out the optimum steering
wheel movements automatically
• Park Assist represents a benefit
especially for drivers who lack
confidence in parking and driving
out of parking spaces, even rather
tight ones
• Park Assist ensures the vehicle
is parked optimally, meaning
that it does not project into the
carriageway or come to a halt too
far onto the pavement
