Lane Assist
HOW IT WORKS
The "Lane Assist" active lane departure warning helps to prevent the vehicle leaving the lane
inadvertently by means of a gentle steering intervention.
SYSTEM INFORMATION
• A camera on the rear-view mirror registers the solid or broken lane markings on the
road at a speed of 65 km/h or more
• Lane Assist is activated, depending on the steering type, if the vehicle moves out of
the lane inadvertently: In vehicles with hydraulic power steering, there is an audible
signal and vibration of the steering wheel (Touareg); in vehicles with electromechanical
steering, Lane Assist applies a continuous, gentle countersteer (other than Touareg)
• If the countersteer force is not sufficient to keep the vehicle in the lane, the driver is also
warned by vibration at the steering wheel
• The system does not react if the turn indicators were activated before the marker is
crossed, or if a deliberate steering movement is detected
• The driver can override Lane Assist at any time with a slight application of force
• Lane Assist also works if only one lane marking is detected, as well as in fog and
darkness
