ACC
HOW IT WORKS
The cruise control system with adaptive cruise control "ACC" adapts the vehicle speed
automatically according to the set speed, and maintains a preselected distance from the
vehicles in front.
SYSTEM INFORMATION
• A radar sensor scans the area in front of the vehicle
• The distance and relative speed of vehicles in front are measured
• If a vehicle driving in front is detected, the distance previously set by the driver is
automatically maintained from this vehicle
• If required (e.g. in traffic jams), the vehicle is braked to a standstill
• As soon as the vehicle in front accelerates or changes lane towards the outside lane,
ACC initiates an acceleration up to the preset maximum speed
• For overtaking manoeuvres, ACC automatically initiates acceleration when the turn
indicator is activated
• The driver can interrupt ACC control at any time using the accelerator pedal, and
accelerate more strongly
• Pressing the brake pedal immediately deactivates the ACC function
• All system messages are provided on the central multifunction display
CUSTOMER BENEFITS
• Greater convenience because
of automatic acceleration and
deceleration, in particular in heavy
traffic where vehicles might be
cutting in and in traffic jams
• Greater safety because a defined
safe distance is maintained
continuously
• Maximum vehicle speed can be
adapted to any particular speed
limits
