WARNING
SAFETY NOTE
The safe motor feedback system may be used only within the limits of the prescribed
and specified technical data, dimensions and tolerances of the dimensional drawings
and operating conditions, and the specified tightening torques must be complied with.
It is especially important that the motor feedback system not be used for safety appli‐
cations beyond its mission time and bearing service life (see technical data). After its
bearing service life is exceeded, bearing wear or fatigue could lead to bearing failure.
To prevent this, the motor feedback system must be taken out of operation no later
than when the bearing service life has been reached. The bearing service life is also
influenced by the specific application, in particular due to operating modes with low
speeds, reversing operation and mechanical vibrations. Current should be prevented
from passing through the ball bearing (e.g. due to injected currents).
If used in any other way or if alterations are made to the device – including in the
context of assembly and installation – this will render void any warranty claims directed
to SICK AG.
WARNING
SAFETY NOTE
If stimuli near the resonance frequency (resonance point > 600 Hz) cannot be reliably
ruled out in the application, occurring mechanical frequencies for the mounting flange
of the motor feedback system are to be determined with suitable measures (vibration
transducer or simulation). Suitable corrective measures must be installed.
WARNING
SAFETY NOTE
Violations of the specified accuracy of the position value in the vicinity of the resonance
frequencies can occur due to physical restraints. If the mechanical stimulation in the
vicinity of the resonance frequencies has a very high amplitude, faults or failures of the
specified safety functions can occur. We recommend avoiding operation in the vicinity
of the resonance frequencies or at least limiting the amplitude.
Double-elastic mounting (to the stator and shaft coupling) of the motor feedback
system is prohibited. The shaft connection between the drive system and the motor
feedback system must have a rigid design.
The motor feedback system cannot support safety functions that are based on the
absolute position without additional measures.
The safe motor feedback system may be mounted, put into operation, checked, main‐
tained, or used only by qualified safety personnel. A qualified person
Has taken part in appropriate technical training
Has been instructed by a machine operator in machine operation and the applica‐
ble safety guidelines
Has access to these operating instructions.
This chapter describes the mounting of the safe motor feedback system.
