Installation and operating instructions • Wilo-RAIN3 • Ed.05/2024-02
NOTICE
Suction and discharge pipes can be fitted on-site independently of each
other on the left, right or lower side of the device (see below).

Connection for overflow
Connect the system after wall fixation as follows:
•
Connection for industrial water distribution (G 1" union nut) (Fig. 14, Item 7).
•
Tap water pipe (G 3/4") (Fig. 14, Item 4 or Turn tap water connection [" 56] section
Item 4a or 4b)
A connection with a flexible hose in conjunction with a shut-off valve is strongly recom-
mended. The connection to the replenishment valve (Fig. 14, Item 4) should be made with
a flat seal and a union nut.
CAUTION
Damage to property due to incorrect connection
Improper connection to the replenishment valve can damage it or the de-
tent.
• Fix the connection with a flat seal and hand-tighten.
• Do not apply tension or load to the valve.
•
Suction line from the rainwater storage tank (G 1" union nut) (Fig. 14, Item 8)
Pipe diameter of at least 25 mm (maximum 32 mm) required.
When checking the maximum negative suction head as well as the duty point of the
pump, the geodesic head difference between the minimum water level in the rainwater
storage tank and the suction side of the pump as well as the pipe friction losses must be
considered.
•
Connect overflow connection (Fig. 14, Item 9) for small leakages with overflow hose (on-
site, Ø 19-21 mm inside diameter) (Fig. 2, Item 29)
•
Install the level sensor (Fig. 2, Item 5; supplied separately) in the rainwater storage tank as
shown in Fig. 2. Lay the cable through a cable duct to the system and connect it to the
control device (see Level sensor connection [" 57] section).
NOTICE
Lay the suction line from the rainwater storage tank to the RAIN3 in a con-
tinuously ascending manner.
- Use suction-proof pipe with an inside diameter of 25 to 32 mm.
- Use suction-proof and vacuum-tight materials and connections.
- Do not use additional filters on the suction side.
On-site deviations caused by the installation can be bridged by installing
an additional pump in the rainwater storage tank (see Fig. 15).
