Switchover of the supply to tap water from the replenishment reservoir via switchover
of 3-way valve (replenishment mode with unloaded drive) if the rainwater fill level in the
rainwater storage tank is too low.
•
Overflow detection in the replenishment reservoir.
•
Automatic switchover for 3 min (adjustable value in menu 5.56, see Settings on control
device [" 41] section) to tap water mode for water exchange in the replenishment
reservoir if it has not been used for 7 consecutive days (adjustable value in menu 5.55),
even if the rainwater fill level in the rainwater storage tank is sufficient.
Additional inputs and outputs for the control of optional devices or for communication:
•
Sewage backwater detection in the rainwater storage tank.
•
Rainwater storage tank pump connection.
In case of possible suction problems due to exceeding the maximum negative suction
head of the main pump (e.g. rainwater storage tank too deep or pipes too long), connect
a rainwater storage tank pump (submersible pump, 230 V, max. 3 A) to the control
device (see Electrical connection [" 57] section). The zero-delivery head of the pump
must not exceed 1 bar. The rainwater storage tank pump is switched on as soon as
"rainwater mode" is activated automatically or manually. Pumps for these applications
are available from Wilo. Consult specialist technician.

Potential-free contact as usable fault message (see Electrical connection [" 57] sec-
tion)
Overflow detection in the replenishment reservoir
The Wilo-RAIN3 replenishment reservoir is equipped with an overflow sensor. If there is
leakage at the replenishment valve or the replenishment valve is not closed completely, an
overflow error is reported and the system switches to tap water mode until the fill level in
the replenishment reservoir drops. If the water level in the replenishment reservoir remains
critical, the acoustic alarm is triggered.
This overflow error message is cancelled as soon as the water level reaches the setpoint and
an operation is performed on the touchscreen. If the error remains active, check the system
and remove the replenishment reservoir for inspection (see Turn tap water connection
[" 56] section).
The LCD touchscreen on the Wilo-RAIN3 control device is used to monitor rainwater util-
isation and set the system parameters as required.
