• Risk of fire! Maintain all specified air space clearances to combustibles. Failure to comply with these
instructions may cause a fire or cause the appliance to overheat. Ensure all clearances (i.e. back, side, top,
vent, mantel, front, etc.) are clearly maintained.
• Never obstruct the front opening of the appliance.
• When using paint or lacquer to finish the mantel, the paint or lacquer must be heat resistant to prevent
discolouration.
5.7 minimum mantel clearances

• Non-combustible finishing material tight to the frame around the screen assembly (optional) must not project
more than 4" (102mm) from the face of the screen assembly above and next to the appliance opening. If
greater projections are needed, increase the clearance to the sides and top by 2" (51mm) for every 1" (25mm)
projection.
We recommend all mantels be made from non-combustible material. However, if using combustible materials,
follow the chart below.
