Cueing
When the tape is shuttling during rewind or
fast-forward, the head assembly is normally
retracted and the output muted so that you do
not hear the unwanted, high-pitched sounds
that would otherwise result. But these high-
pitched signals, if somewhat reduced in
speed, can be used to locate the blank spots
which mark the end of one selection and the
beginning of the next. Most professional
open-ree! tape decks offer just such a feature.
It is called cueing. The 682ZX provides a
unique feature quite similar to cueing systems
found on professional equipment. While you
are in rewind or fast-forward, you can hear
the tape in high-speed motion by pressing the
pause button (6). Pressing this button while
the deck is fast-winding will move the
playback head closer to the tape and reduce
winding speed to one-third. You can further
reduce winding speed to approximately one-
fifth by pressing and holding the rewind
button or the fast-forward button. If you have
moved the tape too far in one direction, you
can change the direction of tape travel while
remaining in the cueing mode simply by
pressing the opposite fast-winding button.
Pressing both the rewind and fast-forward
buttons simultaneously will stop the tape with
the deck remaining in the cueing mode. By
making use of these features, you can easily
locate any starting point on the tape. Pressing
the stop button (8) or the play button (7) will
release the cueing mode.

Cue"
Wahrend des Umspulens ist der
Tonkopfschlitten normalerweise
zurlickgezogen und das Ausgangssignal
abgeschaltet, so daB die stérenden,
hochfrequenten ,Zwitscherténe", die sonst
entstehen wirden, nicht zu héren sind. Diese
.Zwitscherténe" kénnen aber andererseits,
wenn sie in der Geschwindigkeit etwas
reduziert und hérbar gemacht worden sind,
dazu dienen, die freien Stellen auf einem
Band, die zwischen dem Ende eines
Musikstiicks und dem Beginn des nachsten
liegen, zu lokalisieren. Die meisten
professionellen Tonbandmaschinen besitzen
eine soiche Vorrichtung, die ,,Cue" oder
,Cueing™ genannt wird.
Das 682ZX verfiigt liber eine besondere
,Cue"-Einrichtung, die der an professionellen
Tonbandgeraten nicht unahnlich ist. Wird
wahrend des schnellen Vor- oder Ricklaufs
die Pausetaste (6) gedriickt, so verringert sich
die Umspulgeschwindigkeit auf etwa ein
Drittel und der Wiedergabekopf wird naher an
das Band herangefihrt, wodurch die
,Zwitscherténe" hérbar werden. Die
Umspulgeschwindigkeit verringert sich weiter
auf etwa ein Finftel, wenn danach die Taste
fiir schnellen Vor- oder Riicklauf gedrisckt
und festgehalten wird. Wenn das Band zu weit
in eine Richtung gespult wurde, kann die
Bandlaufrichtung einfach durch Driicken der
entgegengesetzten Umspultaste umgekehrt
werden, ohne die ,,Cue"-Funktion zu
beeintrachtigen. Wenn beide Umspultasten
gleichzeitig gedriickt werden, stoppt das
Band, verbleibt aber in der ,,Cue''-Funktion.
Auf diese Weise kann ein gewiinschter Punkt
aut dem Band leicht lokalisiert werden. Durch
Dricken der Stopptaste (8) oder der
Wiedergabetaste (7) wird die ,,Cue-Funktion
beendet.
Recherche
Lorsque la bande défine en rebobinage ou en
avance accélérée, le bloc de tétes est
normalement rentré et la sortie nulle, ce qui
fait que l'on n'entend pas les tonalites
suraigués désagréables qui se
manifesteraient autrement. Mais, si leur
vitesse est un tant soit peu réduite, ces sons
peuvent @tre mis a profit pour !a localisation
des plages vierges marquant Ia fin d'un
enregistrement et le début du suivant. La
plupart des magnétophones professionnels a
bobines ouvertes proposent une telle
particularité. I! s'agit la de la recherche
(repérage).
Le 682ZX est doté d'une fonction exclusive
assez semblable aux systemes de recherche
que l'on rencontre dans les éequipements
professionnels. En avance accélérée aussi
bien qu'en rebobinage, on peut écouler le
bruit produit par le passage de la bande en
défilement accéléré, ceci en appuyant sur la
touche de pause (6). Si !'on appuie sur cette
touche alors que la platine est en mede
d'avance accélerée, la téte de lecture se
rapproche de la bande et la vitesse de
défilement est réduite d'un tiers. Il est
possible de continuer a réduire la vitesse de
défilement jusqu'a concurence d'environ un
cinquiéme de la vitesse nominale enappuyant
sur la touche de rebobinage ou sur celle
d'avance accélérée et en maintenanila
pression. Si l'on a laissé la bande aller trop
loin dans un sens, il est possible d'e, changer
tout en restant en mode de rechercte,
ceci
simplement en actionnant la touche te
défilement accélérée de sens inverse.Si l'on
appuie simultanément sur les touches
d'avance accélérée et de rebobinage le
détilement de la bande est interromps
sans
pour autant que le mode de rechercte
soit
annule. Grace a !'emploi de ces partcullarités,
il est possible de localiser aisémentn'importe
quel point de départ sur fa bande. Le mode de
recherche s'annule par appui sur ue
des
touches d'arrét (8) ou de reproducti¢n
(7).
