Description:
The Echo-Screen III Battery is the optimal device used
to power the Echo-Screen III device.
Intended Use:
The Echo-Screen III Battery is intended to be used with
the Echo-Screen III hearing device. The battery is used
to power the device.
Intended Users and Patient Target Group:
Echo-Screen III devices are designed for use in medical
environments, such as the well-baby nursery, NICU,
mother's bedside, audiology suite, outpatient clinic, or
doctor's office, and in school environments.
Echo-Screen III devices are intended for use by
audiologists, physicians, nurses, and technicians, and
any other personnel who are trained to operate the
device. Basic training with the device is sufficient for
performing screening of patients in good health.
Clinical Benefits:
The Echo-Screen III device detects hearing loss by using
Automated Otoacoustic Emissions (AOAE
which includes Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions
(TEOAE), Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions
(DPOAE), and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
technology.
Contraindications and Side Effects:
There are no known contraindications or side effects for
procedures performed with the Echo-Screen III Battery
Pack.
Operating Instructions:
The Echo-Screen III Pro device is shipped with two
partially charged batteries. Before using the device,
you must fully charge the battery you use in the device.
Fully charge the spare battery before use as well. You
can dock the device in the docking station to charge
both batteries simultaneously. The Echo-Screen III
Pro docking station controls the charge process
automatically. Two battery LEDs indicate charging
progress. The LEDs glow amber while a battery is
charging and glow blue when a battery is fully charged.
The battery LED on the device indicates the charge
status of the battery installed in the device, and the LED
on the docking station indicates the charge status of the
spare battery.
The battery for the Echo-Screen III Pro system is
designed to retain a charge for least 40 screenings
before needing to be recharged. A screening is defined
for this purpose as a complete bilateral ABR test from
start to finish, from entering patient information to
printing labels, including idle or standby time during
patient preparation. The battery indicator turns red
when about 20% of the battery charge remains, and
you may be able to perform another half a dozen or
so screenings based on this definition of screening.
If your screening sessions are shorter or you perform
Quick Tests, you may be able to perform many more
screenings before you are prohibited from screening
due to low battery. Your results will vary based on the
device configuration and the screening modality you
use. When the battery level reaches 15%, you receive
a reminder that the battery is getting low, and you are
prevented from screening. When the battery level is 12%
or less, a message to connect the charger is displayed
and the device automatically shuts down. The batteries
normally charge to 100% in about 5.5 hours. To obtain
a replacement battery, contact Natus Technical Service
or your authorized service representative. Follow your
institution's protocol for the proper disposal of batteries.
