Charger Troubleshooting
Table 22: Troubleshooting: Normal Charging
Problem
Pocket LED does not flash green for approxi-
mately one second for charger power-on.
Battery or radio is inserted into the pocket, but
the pocket LED remains Off and the battery is
not identified on the adjacent display.
Blinking red LED and display (if available)
shows NOT CHARGEABLE REMOVE& REIN-
SERT or a Motorola Solutions battery is in the
pocket, but the display (if available) shows UN-
KNOWN BATTERY.
Alternating red and green LED at the end of the
calibration.
What to do...
Make sure that the power cord is securely plug-
ged into the charger and an appropriate AC
power outlet. Ensure that there is power to the
outlet.
Inspect fuses and replace as necessary.
If the pocket is not Pocket 1 and Power Saver is
enabled, press the Menu button.

Remove the battery or radio from the pock-
et.
Inspect the electrical contacts on the battery
and in the charger pocket for contamination,
corrosion, or physical damage.
Verify that the battery is an authorized Mo-
torola Solutions battery listed in Motorola
Solutions Authorized Batteries. Other batter-
ies may not charge.
Clean the battery electrical contacts using a
dry cloth.
Remove power from the charger, then clean
the pocket electrical contacts using a dry
cloth.
Remove the insert from the charger. Clean
the insert connector using a brush or blower
and place the insert into the charger. To re-
move and install the insert, refer to
Insert Installation on page
Try replacing the battery. If the fault no lon-
ger exists, take the faulted battery out of
service. If the fault persists with the replace-
ment battery, take the charger out of serv-
ice.
The IMPRES 2 battery may be nearing End-
of-Service. The battery is usable, however the
available capacity may not be suited for heavy
use over an extended shift.
Applicable only for APX NEXT XN battery: Bat-
tery has been exposed to high temperature. It is
recommended to remove battery from service.
