d) Checking the center of gravity
• The center of gravity of the model is preset because of
design reasons and located approx. 55 mm behind the
front edge of the wing.
If the model is lifted to the left and right of this point by
the fuselage on the bottom of the wing, it should be in
balance or the nose slightly dropped.
• If necessary, the centre of gravity can be shifted by add-
ing sinkers at the tip of the fuselage or at the tail strike.
If the point of gravity is moved to the front, this does
increase the stability, but also makes the gliding proper-
ties of the model worse.
If the point of gravity is moved to the rear, this does
improve the gliding properties, but the model becomes
very instable and it reacts extremely strongly to control commands from the elevator.
Important!
However, only experienced pilots should modify the position of the center of gravity in order to adapt selec-
tively the model airplane performance to their expectations and steering habits.
