3.3.7 Operating of the Optional Cooling Devices

3.3.7.1 Operation of an Optional External Cooling Device

•
If the shaking cabinet is equipped with the cooling cycle
(heat exchanger) you must activate the external cooling
device or the cooling water supply manually or switch it
off. Please make sure that the heating of the BS-T and
the external heating work against each other.
•
The cooling water temperature and flow rate determine
the temperature in the incubation room of the
CERTOMAT ® BS-T. The possible incubation temperature
is within 10 ... 15 °C above the cooling water
temperature. If a cooling device is connected, you can
select the temperature within the specifications of this
device, i.e. -10 ... +40 °C for a FRIGOMIX ® R.
•
For a temperature of below +10 °C we recommend to
use a commercially available coolant. Otherwise ice may
form in the device, which may affect the cooling
function.
1. Check the connections of the cooling water supply or
the connections of the external cooling device (supply
and return flow) and check whether the circuit is
completely filled.
2. Open the manual valves on the rear connectors of the
CERTOMAT ® BS-T and switch-on the external cooling
device (or coolant supply), if cooling is required. Ensure
that the coolant can circulate properly. The tubings
must not be bent or clamped off unintentionally.

If bubbles occur in the return flow, the cooling cycle
should be refilled.
If a FRIGOMIX ® R is applied, adjust the set temperature

for cooling. Turn the right rotary knob while pressing
the red push button on the left.
If the set temperature of the CERTOMAT ® BS-T is > 5 °C

above the room temperature or higher, you should
switch off the external cooling device and/or close the
supplies.
•
In addition you should close the valves at the
connectors on the rear of the CERTOMAT ® BS-T. For
this turn the valves clockwise. Then you can disconnect
the supply tubings without emptying the heat
exchanger inside the CERTOMAT ® BS-T.

3.3.7.2 Operation of the Optional Internal Refrigerator

•
If the CERTOMAT ® BS-T is equipped with the optional
refrigerator, you need not care for condensate produced
during cooling operation. Existing condensate will be
evaporated internally in the cabinet.
•
To avoid damages of the refrigerator an integrated
overheat protection permanently switches off the unit if
the temperature in the incubation room exceeds
+38.5 °C.
