2 Delivery and Installation
2.1 Delivery and Completeness Check
The equipment and the extent of delivery of the
incubation shaking box CERTOMAT ® BS-T depend on
the individual order. The shaking drive, and if ordered,
the options „cooling cycle" and „refrigerator" will be
preinstalled in the factory prior to delivery according to
the customer´s demands. Each shaking box is delivered
after a thorough functional test. For the transport to
the working place, the installation and prior to start-up
of the unit you should check the following:
1. A suitable transport route through the building and
appropriate transportation means (lifting trucks, etc.)
should be available. The floor, the doors and elevators
must be large enough and you should be able to move
the unit without personal hazards.
2. The working place must be suited for the shaking
cabinet. It must offer sufficient space for convenient
placement and it must compensate the weight of the
completely mounted shaking cabinet.

The BS-T can be placed on a supporting frame. This
will facilitate operation.

1150 x 200 x 710 mm (W x H x D)
3. The working place must be able to compensate
vibrations which are caused at the shaking operation.
Devices which stand around may not be disturbed.
Please observe the conditions for the limitation of the
shaking speeds in chapter 3.
Note that the action of the shaker drive can transmit
vibrations to the box and to the working place. These
vibrations are caused by resonance effects which
depend on the load and shaking speed. Although the
drive has internal balance weights, these weights
cannot fully compensate such vibrations for all
operating conditions.
4. The power supply of the laboratory must be prepared
according to the specifications of your CERTOMAT ® BS-
T, see the labels on the unit.
5. The working place should offer suitable environmental
conditions, see the specifications in the supplement. If
the CERTOMAT ® BS-T should be applied under specific
conditions or with corrosive media you will need to
check the applicability of all parts and accessories.
Malfunction and damages, such as corrosion by
aggressive media are not subject to our guarantee.
If the working place is not applicable for the
CERTOMAT ® BS-T, you must not start-up the unit.
Our warranty will lapse, if the shaking cabinet and its
equipment are applied under inappropriate
environmental conditions or with inappropriate media.
6. Please check the condition of your device and the
provided accessories. All components specified in the
order are premounted or are enclosed in the delivery. The
delivery should be complete and all parts undamaged.

If the CERTOMAT ® BS-T has the wrong mains
specifications, in case of malfunction of the unit or if
any parts are damaged or are missing inform your
Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH representative as soon as
possible.
2.2 Installation and Laboratory Connection

2.2.1 Placement at the Working Place

Place the CERTOMAT ® BS-T in the laboratory in such a

way, that it is easily accessible and its operation cannot
interfere with other devices placed around. The right part
of the machine should be positioned in an approximate
distance of 50 cm from devices or the wall. The side door
is then still accessible and you must not reposition the
box. A minimum wall distance of 15 cm is necessary for
sufficient ventilation.

If the shaking box contains the optional cooling cycle
(heat exchanger) we recommend a distance of
approximately 20 cm for the rear side.
2. The shaking box must be adjusted exactly horizontally.
Unbalanced placement of the box can cause quick wear
and tear of the shaking drive, especially at heavy loads
and high shaking speeds of the trays.

2.2.2 Power Supply

You will require or need to prepare a laboratory
grounded socket offering 230 V, 50 Hz or 115 V, 60 Hz,
depending on the country standard. Check on the type
plate on the box whether it has the correct power
ratings. Never connect the CERTOMAT® BS-T to power
supplies of wrong ratings.

If the plug at the power supply cable does not fit to your
sockets, the service technician can attach a suitable plug
during the first setup of the CERTOMAT ® BS-T.
