HOW TO TEST YOUR LIFE JACKET USING THE AUTOMATIC INFLATOR
A1) To test your inflatable life jacket, you will need:
•
your fully armed inflatable life jacket
•
the re-arming kit (MA5283) approved for your life jacket
A2) Put on the life jacket.
A3) Get into shallow water, just deep enough that you can stand
with your head above the surface. Once the inflator is
underwater 10 cm or so, the inflatable life jacket should fully
inflate automatically within five seconds.
A4) See if the life jacket will float you on your back or just slightly
back of vertical. In a relaxed floating position, verify that your
mouth is well above the water's surface. Note the e ect of
where you hold your legs on how you float.
A5) Get out of the water and remove the life jacket.
A6) Deflate the life jacket by depressing the oral inflator valve (see
"Deflating Your Life Jacket," page 8). Remove the used
inflator.
A7) Let the life jacket dry thoroughly. Re-arm (see "Re-arming Your
Life Jacket," page 9) and repack (see "Repacking Your Life
Jacket," page 12).
HOW TO TEST YOUR LIFE JACKET USING THE MANUAL INFLATOR
M1) To test your inflatable life jacket, you will need:
•
your fully armed inflatable life jacket
•
the re-arming kit (MA5283) approved for your life jacket
M2) Put on the life jacket.
M3) Actuate the inflation system by jerking firmly downward on the
pull-tab. The life jacket should fully inflate within five seconds.
M4) Get into shallow water, just deep enough that you can stand
with your head above the surface.
M5) See if the life jacket will float you on your back or just slightly
back of vertical. In a relaxed floating position, verify that your
mouth is well above the water's surface. Note the e ect of
where you hold your legs on how you float.
