WHY ARE LIFE JACKETS REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT?

A life jacket provides flotation to help keep your head above water,
help you to stay face up in the water, and increase your chances for
survival and rescue. Most adults only need an extra 3 to 5 kg (7 to 12
pounds) of flotation to keep their heads above water. The proper size
life jacket will properly support the weight of the wearer.
Since this inflatable life jacket does not have inherent buoyancy,
it provides flotation only when inflated. Familiarize yourself with
the use of this inflatable life jacket so you know what to do in an
emergency.
No buoyancy device of any kind has ever been a sure guarantee
against drowning. The device provides buoyancy to support or
"float" the wearer, but vigilance and safety sense PLUS wearing
a good buoyant device are the surest protections. For maximum
safety, select the proper size and adjust it to a snug fit. For maximum
buoyancy keep arms and legs in the water.

WHAT IS AN INFLATABLE LIFE JACKET?

While traditional life jackets are inherently buoyant, inflatable life
jackets rely entirely on inflation for buoyancy. Uninflated, this life
jacket is a comfortable slim collar that can be inflated at any time
with a 33-gram CO gas cylinder. It is designed to o er maximum

mobility with minimum bulk. The life jacket can be inflated either
automatically by water immersion, manually by jerking a pull-tab, or
orally by mouth. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with
the procedures outlined in "Instructions for Use," page 3. This
life jacket is not recommended for non-swimmers or weak swimmers.
